Childhood and adolescence can be both exciting and overwhelming. Young people are navigating friendships, school pressures, family changes, and a world that often feels fast-paced and demanding. For many children and teens, this stage of life comes with challenges they don’t yet have the skills or language to manage. That’s where therapy can help.
At Calm Waters Counselling & Psychotherapy, I provide child and youth therapy for ages 10–18 in a supportive and age-appropriate way. Sessions are designed to give kids and teens a safe space where they can talk about what’s going on, build tools for managing big feelings, and learn that they don’t have to face challenges alone.
Common concerns I support include:
Therapy for children and youth often looks different than it does for adults. I use evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT skills, and play- or activity-based strategies that make sessions engaging and relatable. Parents and caregivers are an important part of the process, and I involve them in meaningful ways to ensure progress continues at home.
The goal is not only to help children and teens cope with current struggles but also to give them lifelong tools for resilience, emotional intelligence, and confidence as they grow.
If your child or teen is struggling, therapy can provide a turning point—helping them feel seen, understood, and capable of moving forward.
